The Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim will both honor the late President and former California Governor during July 4 home games tomorrow.  This is the centennial year of Reagan’s birth, and twelve Major League Baseball teams plan to honor the former President throughout the season in cooperation with the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation.

“At Dodger Stadium against the New York Mets, fans will see a video tribute to Reagan narrated by Vin Scully, Reagan trivia will be shown on the video board throughout the game and fans will receive the former president’s favorite treat, Jelly Belly Jelly Beans following the Fourth of July fireworks show. In advance of the game, fans can purchase exclusive Reagan Centennial/Dodgers tickets by visiting http://www.dodgers.com/reagan.

At Angel Stadium against the Detroit Tigers, Reagan associates will be honored on the field: state Assemblyman Martin Garrick, R-Carlsbad, and former state Senate Minority Leader Dennis Hollingsworth, both Reagan Centennial California Commission members; and Washington Redskins and former UCLA wide receiver Terrence Austin, a member of the Centennial National Youth Leadership Committee. The Spirit of Ronald Reagan C-17 airplane will fly over the stadium before the game and the Reagan tribute video, narrated by Chris Rose of Fox and MLB Network, will be shown.

Reagan was a one-time baseball announcer in Iowa and also portrayed pitcher Grover Cleveland Alexander in the movie “The Winning Team” with Doris Day.”

ON JULY 4, COMMEMORATIVE RONALD REAGAN STATUE UNVEILED IN LONDON

This needs to be done in the United States..... Thank You, London.

LONDON (The Blaze/AP) — As time goes on, Ronald Reagan’s legacy continues to have a profound impact across the globe. Last week, we reported on a new statue that was sculpted in Hungary to commemorate the U.S. president. Now, another statue — this time in London — has been unveiled to honor a true American hero.

Ronald Reagan was hailed as “a great American hero” Monday as his admirers unveiled a 10-foot-tall (3-meter-tall) statue of the former U.S. president near the American embassy in London.

Condoleezza Rice, national security adviser and secretary of state in President George W. Bush’s administration, joined British Foreign Secretary William Hague at the morning ceremony in Grosvenor Square. Below, watch Rice speak at today’s event:

“Statues bring us to face to face with our heroes long after they are gone,“ Hague said ”Ronald Reagan is without question a great American hero; one of America’s finest sons, and a giant of 20th-century history. You may be sure that the people of London will take this statue to their hearts.”

Hague also brought a message from former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, Reagan’s staunch ally, whose frail health has made her public appearances very rare.

“She has asked me to say these words to you: Ronald Reagan was a great president and a great man – a true leader for our times,” Hague said.

“He held clear principles and acted upon them with purpose. Through his strength and his conviction he brought millions of people to freedom as the Iron Curtain finally came down.”

The London statue was commissioned by the Reagan Memorial Fund Trust. It joins images of former presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt and Dwight D. Eisenhower in Grosvenor Square, and will remain there after the U.S. Embassy moves to a new location.

Rice was in Prague on Friday as the Czech capital renamed a street in Reagan’s honor, and she was in Budapest on Wednesday for the unveiling of a statue of Reagan.

These are among several events this year marking the 100th anniversary of Reagan’s birth on Feb. 6, 1911, in Tampico, Illinois.
